NMS is thrilled to announce that Alyeska Pipeline Service Company’s Pump Station 4 Wastewater facility, operated under our management, has been honored as the 2024 Small Wastewater System of the Year. This recognition highlights the outstanding performance and dedication of our workgroup.

The prestigious award was presented at the 2024 Alaska Water Wastewater Management Association conference, themed “Honoring our Past, Protecting our Present, and Shaping our Future.”

Located north of the Atigun Pass along the haul road, the remote Alyeska Pipeline Pump Station 4 faces unique challenges such as extreme temperature fluctuations and high winds. Operator Todd Brunner, recently retired, was instrumental in improvements and upkeep of Pump Station 4’s Wastewater facility. Current operators Chris Sant and David Visker have continued these efforts to improve and maintain, always seeking processes and innovations to improve efficiency and functionality as well as increase performance. Their consistent and ongoing collaboration showcases how their experience and teamwork led to tangible improvements in the wastewater system.

Operating on a 2 week on/2 week off schedule, the operators at Pump Station 4 demonstrate exceptional collaboration and communication skills. Their dedication to efficiency, functionality, and safety is reflected in their daily operations, facilitated by effective communication channels like daily logs, crew change notes, calls, and texts. They exemplify NMS’ mission to provide management and support services at a level of quality, value, safety, and expertise beyond our client’s expectations.

The collaboration between Alyeska Pipeline Service Company and NMS at Pump Station 4 demonstrates a commitment to high safety standards and excellence in facility management. This achievement highlights the strength of our partnership and collective goal to uphold exceptional performance across all aspects of our work.
